Spring statement commentary and analysis
This Spring Statement was always going to be quite gloomy. With 2 years of hardship in the rear view mirror, the worsening situation in Ukraine and cost of living increases, no-one was expecting a cheerful chancellor or uplifting news.
However, amongst the negatives, there were notes of hope from Sunak, talk of a prosperous year ahead, of levelling up and of tax changes to support growth. But was there enough for our clients to feel positive about?
